Abby's Wedding

June 30, 2018, was my wedding day. I enjoyed every crazy fun moment of planning, organizing and coordinating.

From the start, Mike and I knew we wanted to throw a big party where all our friends could come together, eat good food, drink plenty of beer and dance. We found our perfect venue at Five Pines Barn in Irwin, PA, and from there the entire concept for our day fell into place.

I immediately recruited Nikki to create all of my wedding invites, signage, programs - basically any piece of paper found at my wedding was developed by Nikki. From a photobooth, to a message in a bottle anniversary station, to a memory wall of our family, to drink koozies, we loved the idea of having every single sign and decoration coordinated. It all came together beautifully.

Once we had our color scheme and general idea for the day developed, we had to decide what everyone would wear! First and foremost, I wanted my bridesmaids and I to feel beautiful and be comfortable, so we could party and dance all night long. I was excited to have the girls wearing different colors to add some dimension to our photos. They all found their dresses at David’s Bridal and looked amazing.

Because our dog is such a huge part of our lives, we knew we wanted her to be involved in the wedding in some way, and including her as our flower girl was the perfect option. Yes, it added a little more planning, but nothing a "Type-A" bride can’t handle. Nikki made her this perfect flower collar out of baby’s breath to match the bridesmaids.

Over the next year, I researched vendors, thrifted with my mom for the perfect decorations, crafted certain things to look just right, and developed our timeline and flow for the weekend. Anyone who was part of my wedding will tell you, the itineraries were VERY specific. I am an extremely detailed person, but because of my love of planning and the vendors and people I hired to help me, I was able to relax and have a blast on the day-of, which is how every bride should feel.

It really is true what they say, your wedding day goes by so fast. But I can honestly tell you, we had the best day celebrating with our closest 180 family and friends. This is such a special time, and it’s important to let it all sink in - during the planning, rehearsal dinner, morning-of and even on the dance floor.

My advice to any bride is to enjoy yourself. Have fun. Your guests will have the best time watching you and your husband tear up the dance floor.
